the one where he’s done things
Wow, its been a crazy couple of weeks here at Casa McBride. I mean, we’ve actually done things. Real things, not just hop over to Newbury Comics on a Saturday. Even though we did do that a couple of times. They didn’t even ask for my id when I went to pay for something with my credit card, because I’m friends with the Manager there. So, it is true then, I really am a big deal on the internet.
Last night, we went out with some friends to the last of the summer concert series put on by the local alt-rock radio station WBRU to see Ok Go. It was weird actually seeing them play the instruments, because in their video’s they just dance. Also the lead singer,
sang some Rob Base during an interview we listened to on the way down. They are a pretty geeky band. I guess where we sat was the “teen section”, We had a very angry and very loud oriental girl sitting next to us. If there was someone standing somewhere infront of us she would yell at them to sit down. Once Ok Go hit the stage, everyone stood up, and that must have pissed her off big time because she left to find a better spot not 5 minutes into the first song. Damian did however, sing one song in the middle of the crowd very close to us. That was very cool as you can see in the picture.
They played for about an hour and a half. Some bands have trouble sounding like their albums, but Ok Go didn’t seem to have a problem. It totally sounded like they just put in a cd and took it from there. They even
play a song with nothing but bells and the lead singer. It was pretty cool. It was actually my first concert since I moved to the United States. Loved it. Now, for next year we know where we have to go and sit so we can *actually* see the band as they perform. But it didn’t matter to me that we couldn’t see them. We could hear them, and I was in good company with Crystal. I kept trying to get her to help me “beat down the beat” and go creeping afterwards, but she didn’t want to do that. After the show, we told our friends that we had to go, so we drove out of Providence with little problems, and bee lined it to Denny’s for a quick supper, and then home to bed.
We had to get up slightly early.
We had to be home because in the am Ma’s new antique bed was arriving. I was told they were loading on the truck at ten, and hopefully by eleven thirty or so, it would be at the house. I think it got here around 12:30. In fact we actually watched the delivery truck drive past us. When they finally got here, we unloaded a dresser, a wardrobe, bed frame and a vanity. I have no idea how old it is, but it looks great. After that was in place, Crystal and I grabbed some Dangelo’s while Ma went to pick up the dogs from the groomer.
After that, we were on our way to Liquid Design Tattoo. Ma Went first as hers was bigger than mine or Crystal’s. No
lemmie tell you, I’m used to going first because I’ve always had the bigger one. I’m not a patient guy, so waiting just about 3 hours was killing me! Their apprentice was a real go getter. instead of getting the Val’s (the tatooist’s) station ready, he only did it part way, so as I was in the chair, she was still setting up. She shook her head more than I did at this kid. Let me just tell you that Val was great. Efficient, professional, and just pretty awesome. She did a great job on my quote from Buckaroo Bonzai
We’re definitely be going back to her and the rest of the artists there.
Now, maybe some tv, then bed. Crystal has to work in the morning for a few hours. I’m gonna be in house-husband mode I think.
